What You Need To Have: U.S. Fiance Visa Requirements

Fiance Visa Requirements

If you are going to marry someone in order for them to be able to become citizens of the United States you better have all of your affairs in order.  In the first place, it is illegal to marry someone simply to help them to obtain citizenship.  If you love the person, however, and want to get married to them for that reason, it is possible for them to be able to gain access into the United States as a permanent citizen.

The problem of the matter is that everything has to be just so or else you're going to end up with some problems.  They fiancee visa requirements have really increased in the past several years and they will continue to get more strict as time goes along.  In fact, I would never attempt to go into such a relationship with someone without the legal advice of somebody that really knew what they were talking about.  There are plenty of attorneys that deal specifically with fiance visa requirements and help you to be able to gain citizenship for your fiancee in the shortest time possible.  Here is some information that they will help you to understand. In the first place, you are going to need to make sure that you are able to financially support not only yourself and your fiancee but any children that are also either yours or hers.  In order for your marriage to be legal and for them to be able to gain citizenship in the United States, you are at least would have to support them to the point where you are at poverty level.  If you are unable to do this, talk to your attorney about the possibility of not filing until you are in a position where this is the case.
Another thing that must take place in order for this marriage to be legal is that it must be legally recognized in whatever state the marriage was performed.  This would not only be the case if you are married in the United States, it would also be the case if you are married in a different country.  In order for this marriage to be legally recognized in the United States, it must also be legally recognized in the country in which you were married.

Something else that must be considered is that you must be getting married for the right reason.  All throughout your engagement and through the early parts of your marriage you must make sure that you keep a careful record of everything in order to prove the fact that you married your spouse because you love them, not because they wanted to gain citizenship.  There are also some regulations on time periods if you and your fiancee are living outside the United States and plan on coming into the United States to get married.

It is not as easy as it was several years ago to bring a fiancee into this country that is a citizen of another country.  That doesn't mean that it can't be pursued with success, however, as any good attorney will be able to help you fill out the proper fiancee visa requirements in order to make things go smoothly.
